I'm sure everyone remembers the dream of standing on the edge of the cliff with the waves churning below. It's just one of those ones that you never forget. This is the depiction of my version of the dream. Usually, in mine, there is a boat that is sailing toward the horizon as I stand on the edge of the cliff and yell for it to come back to me. Sadly, it never does, as they never hear me and they sail until I cannot see them anymore. Thus, I feel abandoned and sorrow overwhelms me and I feel so alone.

Part of the 100 Themes Challenge that you can see I've started in my journal. I'm not doing them in order, but I'm picking out a theme to go along with as I get inspiration for images. This challenge is supposed to be a new way of looking at themes and challenging yourself as you do it. I'll probably get so far through and find that everything that I try will be a challenge. Nevertheless, it's going to be a long process and I hope it'll be an enjoyable one at that.

Awesome job Kari. It gives the feeling of such helplessness. The whole effect on the stock of the girl is pulled off very nicely, with the shadow and such. One thing that gets me is the boat. Maybe some stocks of waves to blend in the sailboat with the water? I dunno but that's just what I think. Fav for sure.
Thanks there, Zilla. You're right about the boat there. I wanted to give the impression of either the waves bucking against it, like it's the girl's will for it to not leave and the sea is working with her and against the boat. The waves that the boat was surrounded by were manipulated in with it, but I'll see if I can find some more swells to blend in.
It's good to know that the shadow works. I was stumped for a while with it and spent around two hours fiddling with it and painting it in until I found something that I was happy with. I guess it proves that perseverance will get you anywhere.
Thank you for the detailed comment as well. I'm always appreciative of those and the fact that you included some critique was helpful to me too.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example.
